Digital Content Producer FOX23 News (2018-2021)

FOX23 News logo

From June 2018 to June 2021, I worked as a Digital Content Producer for FOX23 News on KOKI-TV in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The station was owned by Cox Media Group when I was hired and then by Apollo Global Management when my contract expired.

In my role as Digital Content Producer, I was responsible for the creation of content for the station's social media pages, with a following at the time of more than 400,000 users. This included curating a timeline with a mix of direct links to FOX23.com content, self-designed graphics related to news and sports content, and snackable videos fit for social media audiences.

I was also responsible for creating content for FOX23.com and determining digital and social strategy related to that content. Using data and trends from tools like Google Analytics, Tableau, and CrowdTangle, I worked to ensure digital content was directed toward what audiences were interested in.

Over time, I became the go-to digital content expert in the newsroom, training new producers and reporters on digital media best practices, and spearheading coverage of severe weather and major news events, including the breakout of COVID-19, presidential visits and elections, the Jan. 6 riots, the Tulsa Race Massacre Centennial, and George Floyd protests in Tulsa. I also handled live streams, customization of website pages and content, and newsletters.
